What really happened to our cauliflower brains
Sexuality is the nuclear powerhouse of animals. In humans, this is clearly demonstrated in the limbic system, which also houses the amygdala. The neocortex of bipedal primates has expanded dramatically over the past millions of years, partly to counterbalance the uninhibited and uncontrolled sexuality in the limbic system:
We now call this counterbalance "religion", when it should really be called the shame of our uncontrolled and uninhibited sexuality. That's what we now call "monotheism": a split sexual identity and conscience between the conscious and the unconscious:
But the ancient Greeks were wiser and didn't tolerate a guardian of their limbic brains in the neocortex. This led to a link between sexuality in the limbic brains and gods in the neocortex: gods became sexual roles. This is what we now call polytheism: an integrated sexual identity and conscience within the conscious:
